The studio’s origins

When I was a teenager, people would ask me what I wanted to do when I grow up, and I would answer « I want to be happy». Now, apparently, John Lennon said that too, but I won’t sue him. The funny thing is that I started my business because I felt the strong desire to create happy and inspiring things for others – a thing that I was technically doing in my job in advertising, but not in the pure sense of it. But let’s start with the beginning.

I was born in the french part of Switzerland, in a loving and creative family, connected to simple things. I think I have always created: write, draw or paint all the things I imagined, and express my emotions through art, being the sensitive soul that I am. Growing up, I also closely experienced what it’s like to see someone you love suffering from mental health. This anchored in me a strong desire to help others and to help them find a smile despite the hard times.

Still, I had frankly no idea what I wanted to do, except I wanted to do something special. My journey took many paths. After a diploma in visual arts where I thought I could never make a living from art, I decided to study psychology to have a better understanding of the human mind. Fascinated by social psychology but missing creation, I re-oriented myself and studied art direction. Finally, everything I dreamed of! After this second bachelor’s degree in my pocket, I spent several years in advertising, working to find the best ways to express ideas and stories… to convince consumers to buy more stuff, which is far far away from my values. I called that “The dark side of creation”!

As you can imagine, advertising didn’t fit my artistic soul for long. I wanted to inspire people, take them out of their routine, and make them laugh, for real. I quit everything to travel for a year, and finally make all the things I had in mind. When I got back, freedom-loving, I decided to work as an independent graphic designer and illustrator. At the same time, I opened a shop to sell my funny and cute creations and I made a comic book about dating. I also co-founded a charity art exhibition to support the fight against breast cancer, with paintings made only with breasts from women all around the globe. My brain is fuzzing with ideas.

No business is without its ups and downs but without a doubt I know this is where I’m meant to be. My fascination with social psychology married with my love of design and my passion for helping small businesses to succeed means I can finally use my powers for good (not evil 😉).  I remember my teenage self saying “I want to be happy” and I’m so grateful to have a business that makes me happy every day creating designs and illustrations that spark joy and poetry. My mission is to help others feel authentic and confident about their business and take their brand or dream project to the next level to show the world how awesome it is.
